Welcome to the House of Hen -

Your boutique hen-do experience.

The hen house is a family home and business whose purpose is to provide a bespoke, unique and enjoyable weekend for the ones you love. We aim to provide a social and creative experience that empowers feminine energy and focuses on love. We want to take the stress out of the Hen Party experience because we know organising a large group of women is like herding cats. So let us do the hard work and you just tick the boxes and let us know if there’s anything extra you want to make your weekend as special as possible.

Location

We are located in the town of Great Torrington in the beautiful North Devon. A sleepy, cute and quirky market town with a town square where you will find local fruit and veg shops, bakeries and butchers as well as several independent shops. All of which, as a business, we support to engage with our local economy and community. We are a 7 minute walk from the centre and even closer to a supermarket. (3 minutes walk). The town has an interesting history if that is your thing as well as a few pubs if you fancy a pint in a traditional rural setting. The town is placed on top of a valley with incredible views and walks through common land, woods and by the river. We also have the Tarka trail nearby if you fancy bringing or renting a bike. It’s a gentle ride to the next town and a lovely opportunity to go for lunch in Bideford or Instow.

If you fancy an evening and more boozy event we can provide you with a route for a pub crawl taking you on the bus around local towns like Bideford, Instow and Appledore, all very beautiful and worth a visit. If you fancy popping to the seaside, Westward Ho! is just 15 minutes drive and why not go and enjoy the amusement arcades and have a famous Hockings ice cream?

There’s lots of lovely tourist things to do in the area if you fancy making your stay longer.

Sleeping arrangements.

The house has 5 bedrooms with, one emperor bed, 2 king sized beds, 2 doubles and 2 singles. And quite a comfy sofa if there’s some serious snoring. The house has 3 bathrooms and two lounges with seating areas outside and beautiful views of the Devonshire countryside. We have parking for 5 cars and other parking is nearby. We have a hot tub that looks out onto a gorgeous sunset most evenings and is a wonderful location to see the stars if you fancy getting snuggly and catching up with your friends into the early hours.

How it works.

I, Toni will be your host for the time you stay, making your time as fun and comfortable as possible.

Friday

Check in from 4.

You will be greeted with drinks and snacks of your choosing.

Option A- Tea and cake

Option B- Prosecco and nibbles or maybe you fancy a Gin O’ Clock or Pimm’s?

Once everyone has arrived I will put out a graze table.

Evening activity

-Wine tasting. 4 wines with accompanying cheeses optional.

-We also have a projector if you fancy watching your favourite film in your PJ’s and popcorn.

-If requested, getting to know you and your bride, games are provided.

Or if you just want to have a drink and relax please do.

After you are settled in I’ll see you in the morning for breakfast.

Saturday

Breakfast from 9. Your choice on style.

Option A- Continental breakfast of croissants, crumpets, yogurt, fruit and all the trimmings.

Option B- Bagels/ Sandwiches Sausage, bacon, salmon, cream cheese etc…

Option C- Pancakes with bacon, scrambled egg, fruit and maple syrup etc…

Option D- Full English fry up

Morning and/or evening creative activities

-Life drawing

-Play with clay-make your own boob mug or sculpt an ideal partner.

-Paint a penis

-‘Groom doll’ make your perfect man through stitch

- Underwear decorating, bra, knickers or nipple Tassels.

-Dress design. Have a go at designing or guessing your bride’s dress.

-Sketch booking, collectively make a sketch book for the bride to keep wishing her messages and images reflecting her and her new life. I will then bind it and send to the bride.

- Unorthodox cross stitch.

- Bridal Bake off - this one gets competitive.

- Cake decorating - fun with frosting

- Flower crown making

Or maybe there is something you need making for your wedding like bunting… many hands make light work.

If you have an idea I will do my best to arrange it.

After the morning activity I suggest some down time, explore the area, go for a walk in the beautiful country side… take a nap and then I will see you again for an afternoon activity and/or evening meal.

I then suggest some down time, explore the area, go for a walk in the beautiful country side… take a nap and then I will provide an evening meal.

A- Italian based, Lasagna with garlic bread and salads

B- Dirty American, ribs, wings and wedges. Chicken Caesar salad and corn on the cob.

C- Graze table of salads etc…

Pudding

Crumble or sticky toffee with ice cream, cream or custard. Or all of them no one’s judging!

Ice cream sundaes of many flavours.

If you have a favourite dessert it can be arranged.

Then enjoy the evening with your friends.

Sunday

On Sunday I will provide breakfast from 9, the same options as above. The weekend at the house finishes by 10.30. If you would like to explore the area or stay for lunch, The Puffing Billy, a short walk away (even shorter drive)

do a great roast. But I would suggest booking beforehand.

Pricing £250 PP

The weekend includes 2 nights stay with optional two lead creative activities with all resources included, two breakfasts and two evening meals. A bottle of Wine/ Prosecco is allocated per person plus snacks.
